Family Therapy

Our relationships with family members give great meaning to our lives. When those relationships are stuck or functioning negatively, it can drastically affect home life.

Family counseling can be effective for families with children but also with adult conflicts for multi-generational issues as well.

When working with children, the very best results come when parents or caregivers are part of the process and the solution. Family counseling may look different for each family as therapy is always tailored to the individual needs of the family and its members.

Family therapy can be especially effective when two or more family members have a strained or difficult relationship. Family therapy can also be very successful when addressing family changes such as a loss or separation or a new addition.

At the Place for Counseling we provide Family Therapy in different ways to meet unique challenges and needs of each family.

We provide different approaches to Family Therapy

Sometimes a family therapy model works best when an issue is affecting the whole family.

Family therapy can involve a family with teens/ or children to address issues of family functioning or big changes that have occurred or are on the horizon. This model can be used to work through disputes, parenting issues, or behavioral or other struggles of one family member, generally a youth, that is effecting functioning of the whole family.

Family therapy can be very effective with adult conflicts and or multi generational issues that can plague families. Adult families may be facing strain or differences that they need help with. Adult children and their parents many tiles seek help as they redefine family roles or work through differing values, life choices or view points.

We work often with families struggling with the strains of a family business. Setting boundaries in the workplace can be very hard when co workers are family members. Other times the goal of therapy may be to address relationship issues that have been strained for sometime and those involved are ready through through it and put it in the past to brighten the future. We know that all families are different and we look forward to working with you. All are welcome.

At the Place for Counseling, our talented therapists take very different approaches to Family therapy.
